What does it take to transition in the era of climate change? We know there's work to be done at the federal and global level, but what does climate change work look like for local government?
Sustainable Hudson Valley is partnering with the Rhinebeck Rotary for a lunch forum with Vanessa Bertozzi, who serves on the Village of Rhinebeck Board of Trustees, where she specializes in climate and environment. She is also the Village’s Climate Smart Communities Coordinator, overseeing the task force that implements actions of NY State’s Climate Smart Communities program. www.climatesmartrhinebeck.org.
Vanessa will be speaking about her role at the Village level, and the very personal push to engage with neighbors, schools, libraries and other partners. Supported by her creative leadership, Rhinebeck has taken successful steps to achieving Bronze certification in New York's Climate Smart Communities program, earning funding and recognition for projects including biodiversity and waste audits, a car free day, young activists networking and more.
This program is a must for anyone wanting to move their community forward on climate actions that are meaningful and manageable. It is designed especially for Rotarians' use in taking action on Rotary International's new priority, Environment.
Attendance is free; $20 for lunch, if desired. Non-members of the Rotary Club, please call Joe at 845-625-4618 to reserve a seat.
