UPDATE:
Postponed to Friday Sept 23 because of RAIN!
Hey Rhinebikers and Walkers: It's almost time to put on those highlighter yellow shirts again—get ready to join us on Sept 22! We’re challenging the Rhinebeck community to take the pledge to go car free (or car lite) for Car Free Day on September 22, 2022. This is an international event with the goal of reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, rethinking mobility, and encouraging sustainability. (When taking the pledge: Please use Rhinebeck Climate Week as your employer/affiliate.)
Take the pledge, and then go car free or car lite on September 22 by riding a bus, train, carpooling, biking, walking, scooting, skateboarding, combining trips, driving an electric vehicle, or teleworking. Whether you’re commuting to work or a student getting to school or just going about your day, our actions add up and raise awareness. When you take the pledge, you’ll help Climate Smart Rhinebeck get recognized for our sustainability efforts, and get closer to our SILVER certification! Already car free? That’s great! Your pledge will still contribute to Climate Smart Rhinebeck’s sustainability goals.
Rhinebeck Central School District students and their families are invited to an organized biking and walking to school event on the morning of September 22. Our plan is to meet up at Lions Mini Park in the morning. Parents and grown-up community members, please sign up to volunteer (please fill out the form asap). We need crossing guards and folks to donate baked goods and fruit. Thank you in advance!
Here are some photos from last year—we had a blast!
